Veneers Q & A

What are veneers?

Veneers are custom-made thin shells that look just like natural teeth. Dr. Rahman can bond them to the front and sides of your natural teeth to strengthen them and drastically improve their appearance. Veneers are usually made of porcelain or composite resins.

Why are veneers used?

Veneers can improve the look of teeth that are:

  • Chipped
  • Cracked
  • Crooked
  • Gapped
  • Misshapen
  • Stained
  • Too small
  • Weak
  • Irregular
  • Unsightly

Veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment that gives you the beautiful smile you’ve longed for. They make teeth whiter, symmetrical, even-shaped, and smooth.

Are veneers right for me?

To find out if veneers are the right dental restoration for you, Dr. Rahman and his team review your dental history, take X-rays, and examine your teeth and gums.

If you have minor tooth imperfections and desire a more aesthetically pleasing smile, veneers are likely a good match for you. If you have tooth decay or gum disease, treatment is necessary prior to veneer placement.

What happens during veneer placement?

To develop custom-fit veneers, Dr. Rahman removes a small amount of enamel from the front and sides of your teeth. He takes digital scans of your mouth using advanced technology to create Cerec® same-day veneers in just a few minutes, saving you time and money.

When your veneers are ready, he ensures they fit properly and permanently bonds them to your teeth, where they remain long term.

How should I care for new veneers?

Properly caring for your veneers means they can last several decades or even a lifetime. Brush your teeth at least two times a day and floss every day. Don’t chew on ice, popcorn kernels, and other hard objects, and avoid opening packages with your teeth.

To help prevent decay and gum disease, eat a healthy diet and avoid added sugar whenever possible. Limit or avoid foods and drinks that can stain veneers, such as red wine, coffee, tea, sports drinks, dark juices, and popsicles. Attend routine dental appointments every six months.

Don’t let misshapen, stained, or imperfect teeth ruin your smile and confidence. Schedule an appointment with Floral Dental Care, PC, over the phone or online to find out if you’re a good candidate for veneers.
